School Desk, Single Student Desk on Flat-Oval Tube, Gr. 4-7

The single school desk on a flat-oval tube frame is a well-balanced model for middle and senior grades (growth groups 4–7): a sturdy flat-oval frame, a shelf for textbooks and a desktop with a moulded polyurethane edge at a moderate price. The optimal choice when a classroom needs long-lasting furniture without paying extra for optional features.

The ergonomic desktop — corners rounded on all four sides plus an anti-scoliosis cutout — is made of 18 mm laminated chipboard, edged around the perimeter with a moulded 6 mm polyurethane band and fitted with a polyurethane pen tray. A modesty panel and a shelf of 18 mm laminated chipboard with 2 mm PVC edging sit between the frames, and hooks for belongings are mounted on the side posts. The frame is welded from 50×30, 38×20 and 30×15 mm flat-oval tubes and a 25 mm round tube; the 50×30 mm skids stand vertically, narrow side down, and are closed with external plastic end caps. The metal is powder-coated, and the height adjusts from 640 to 820 mm with screws through the frame holes and a plastic transition sleeve.

What is the advantage of a flat-oval tube over a round one? The 50×30 mm profile with vertical skids gives higher bending rigidity: the desk does not wobble and holds its geometry even after years of use and frequent rearrangement.

Where does a student keep textbooks and belongings? There is a chipboard shelf under the desktop, a polyurethane pen tray on the desktop, and hooks for a backpack or bag on the side posts.

Is the polyurethane edge durable? Yes: it is moulded as a solid 6 mm layer with no joints, so it never peels and withstands impacts — the edge is what fails first in school furniture, and here it is reinforced.
