Student Chair, Cantilever Sled Base on Round Tube, No. (4)5-7

This student chair with a sled base on round tube is a model for middle and senior classes, adjustable for height groups No. (4)5-7. Its main structural difference is the sled (runner) base instead of four separate legs: it spreads the load evenly across the floor, does not wobble on uneven surfaces and slides smoothly without scratching the flooring. Such a chair is easy to lift onto the desk during wet cleaning of the classroom.

The seat and backrest are made of bent-laminated plywood 8.5-9.5 mm thick, finished with a colourless water-based lacquer that preserves the natural wood texture. The corners are rounded and the seat depth is adjustable. The metal frame is welded from round tubes 32 and 25 mm in diameter and a flat-oval tube 30x15 mm with powder coating. Height is set with screws through the frame holes to three positions by the child's height. Plastic end caps on the runners protect the floor.

This is the base version without HPL.

Why is a sled base better than four legs? The runners rest on the floor along their full length, so the chair does not wobble on uneven surfaces, slides quietly and does not scratch the flooring — reducing floor wear in the classroom.

How does this model differ from the HPL version? Here the plywood is finished with water-based lacquer instead of HPL plastic. The chair keeps the natural look of the wood, but the surface is less resistant to moisture and disinfection than HPL.
