Equipping a Shelter: Furniture and Equipment Guide
Shelter outfitting breaks down into zones: seating, sleeping and storage. Furniture covers the first three; engineering systems are set by the structure’s design.
- Structure types: shelter, anti-radiation shelter, simplest shelter, dual-use structure.
- A simplest shelter: continuous stay of at least 48 hours, seating (sleeping) places.
- Furniture: benches and chairs, bunks/beds/mattresses, metal racks for supplies.
- Placement (education): basement/ground/first floor, up to 100 m.
