School chairs per GOST 11016-93: choosing the right size by student height
GOST 11016-93 "School chairs. Types and functional dimensions" was withdrawn in Ukraine on 1 January 2026 (UkrNDNC order No. 272 of 29.08.2025), yet its height groups and colour marking are still widely used in tender specifications. Current requirements are set by DSTU EN 1729 and the Sanitary Regulation No. 2205.
What GOST 11016-93 covered
The standard defined types and functional dimensions of chairs used together with school desks per GOST 11015-93. Chairs came in two types: type I with fixed parameters and type II with adjustable seat height covering three adjacent size numbers (1–3, 3–5 or 5–7). A chair must match the desk size number and marking colour.

When purchasing, check seat height, rounded corners (10–30 mm radius), backrest angle of 95–130° and the locking mechanism on adjustable type II chairs. Prioritti school chairs and desk sets are made to height groups with full tender documentation.
